The Beginning
A house that has been serving coffee since 1960
Set El Hosn takes its name and its face from the old city itself — the lady of the fortress, drawn in brass above a wall of black basalt. The building is a traditional Damascene house: an inner courtyard with a marble fountain, rooms opening onto it, high vaults, and windows glazed in the red, blue and green that Damascus has always used to catch the light.
Restoring it meant keeping what was already right. The checkerboard floor stayed. The wooden shutters were repainted in the same green. The fountain was made to run again. Then we put a proper espresso machine in the corner and opened the door.
